Get Educated

The Family Justice Centers have a speaker’s bureau available to provide awareness presentations to your business, agency or service group at no-cost. The presentations include information about domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, elder abuse and how our Centers can help. This valuable training will equip you with the tools you need to know the signs of abuse and what you can do to be part of the solution.

Did you know…

-   1 in 4 women will experience domestic violence in their lifetime?

-   Boys who witness domestic violence are twice as likely to abuse their own partners and children as adults?

-  In California, one forcible rape occurs every 56 minutes?

SEXUAL ASSAULT

If it happens to you…

Sexual Assault is about power, control, and humiliation–it has very little, oftentimes nothing, to do with sex. It was not your fault. No one asks to be sexually assaulted, and you don’t have to go through this alone! Ask to speak with a sexual assault counselor at the Center.

CHILD ABUSE

If you suspect a child has been abused…

  • Keep calm and let the child know you believe them
  • Be reassuring and supportive
  • Don’t overwhelm the child with questions
  • Do not confront the abuser
  • Take action. It could save a child’s life
  • Speak with an advocate at the Center for guidance

Seniors suffer abuse in many different forms – often by people who are directly responsible for their care. Talk to one of our specially trained advocates about the many rights that apply to elders. Many community resources are available:
